Feeling Stressed and Tense?

Do you find yourself feeling stressed and tense? If you’re a colorist, you know that pulling out a coloring book and spending a little time coloring helps melt away that stress. Of course, coloring isn’t the only way to relieve pressure.

Journaling is another way. Although people write in journals for a variety of reasons, it’s an excellent outlet for releasing pent up feelings. By writing notes about your emotions, you can track what’s going on and figure out what is causing it.

Try these journal entry techniques to log your feelings:

  • Record your emotions daily
  • Use short words or phrases to record how you feel
  • Draw your feelings using symbols like happy or sad faces
  • Color a mood tracker printable or book
  • Make note of the time of day
  • Write what you were doing around the time you became overwhelmed

Make sure when you are tracking your feelings that you do it on a regular basis. This will enable you to get a feel for any patterns and triggers that show up when you look back in your journal. Take note of the days with a lot of negative words or sad face symbols and reflect on who or what was causing your stress.

Journals I recommend:

  • If you love coloring and want to journal, try my coloring journal . (At this time these versions are in large format, 8.5″ x 11″ only.)
  • If you don’t mind coloring but don’t want to do a full design, try The Living Flower – A Daily Mood Tracker journal. (I do not own, nor have I seen it in person, but by looking at the “Look Inside” feature on Amazon it looks like a unique stress tracker. This book is also in large format, 8.5″ x 11″.)
  • I got a chuckle from this book, Ups and Downs: A Journal for Good and Not-So-Good Days. It includes whimsical hand-drawings, check boxes, doodle areas and more for you to record your stresses and frustrations. Be sure to see the “Look Inside” feature to see what I’m talking about. It looks like a fun one! (I also do not own, nor have I seen this book, but it’s one that I may be buying in the future. It’s a smaller format book, 5.2″ x 7.2″.)

Here’s to more journaling and stress relief!
