Coloring Book Backgrounds: Pastels

(Affiliate links are used throughout this post.)

Coloring backgrounds in coloring books can be done so many ways and with multiple types of coloring instruments.

No matter which you choose, it’s a beautiful way to create a finished touch to your coloring page.

Recently one of my email subscribers mentioned that she’d like to learn more about using chalk pastels for backgrounds so I thought this would be a fun topic to explore.

I found a video by Peta Hewitt that shows a very simple method using pastels. It’s a 20-minute video but it’s got some great info and tips. I thought it was worth the time and I think you will too.

Another video I found is by CherTheFire. It’s 11 minutes long and shows several different ways to apply pastels using materials you probably already have at home.

I didn’t realize it at first, but this video is part of a series. I’ll share more about the other videos in a future post.
