Boost your creativity through journaling?
Journals are excellent tools to step-up your creativity and keep it flowing.
No matter what you’re trying to accomplish with journaling, there are times when your mind goes blank or you just don’t know where to start.
Here are 3 cool journaling ideas to inspire you and get you rolling.
Doodling or Coloring
You don’t have to be an artist to doodle or color. And knowing what object or palette you’re going to use isn’t necessary either. Just pick up a pencil or pen and start.
Don’t worry about your style or technique, because it’s about the process. It’s about taking the time to practice and develop your skill, letting your creativity flow.
There are no rules! In my opinion, ANYTHING goes!
Embellishing with Mixed Media
Mixed media incorporates other materials in your journal beside just hand-written text. Magazine clippings, pictures, ticket stubs, washi tape and stickers are just a few of the items that can be used to make your journal fun and inspire your creativity.
Do you ever play music to motivate you? (I know I can get housework done faster (and more cheerfully) when I put on some tunes!) 🙂
Listening to uplifting or inspiring music while journaling can also have an impact on your creativity. Experiment and see what you think.
Also try experimenting with different styles of music (like the video above) to see if that makes a difference.
As the music plays, you may experience various emotions you’ll want to write down or express. Just go with the flow. (If you’ve got lots of noises in your home, it may be helpful to use pair of headphones or earbuds to block them out.)
This is just a drop in the bucket of tons of ideas you can use to boost your creativity with journaling. Don’t feel like you have to stick to one specific method either. If an idea doesn’t appeal or stops working for you, simply move on to another.
Here’s to more coloring AND journaling!
